A Day to Celebrate

Senior Chairman Gord Thompson's birthday... a glorious summer day, a championship golf course in pristine condition, excellent shot making by some, not all, what a better way for the young at heart to celebrate.

Individual play captured the day with low net 60's from Don McFarlane, Lloyd Ferguson and Tim Langs and scores in the 70's from John Brierley with a leading 77 accompanied by Lionel Hudon and Larry Clark with 78's. The winners of our skill contest - closest to the hole on #4 South and #7 East - were Al Bullock and Jim Moriarty.

The game for the day - progressive net best ball (commonly known as 1-2-3) over three hole stretches. In third place was Team Noel Thomas with support from Ellard McBane, Lionel Hudon and John Brierley - together they shot a very respectful 126. Two shots lower at 124 was Team John Ryan assisted by Fred Bodnar and the two docs, Ray Bozek and Carl Moore (all four netted out at par or better). However, it was the spectacular play of Eric Woerner (gross 81/net 63) that lead his team of Mike Hughes, Phil Chopp and Larry Clark to a score of 121 - a three stroke margin of victory. (Note: He was assisted by one of his partners making four bombs in the 35+ foot range).
